Trip to Alaska

Here we are! Touching down at the Vancouver International Airport means we are getting 1 step nearer to our final destination – Alaska!

When we told our friends that we are going to Alaska, most of them were surprised, and asked, why Alaska?

Alaska seems a place, which is far far away from home! But hubby said, Alaska is always one of the destinations in his mind, for it being the “last front tier” of the world. Due to global warming, he would want to have a trip there before it is too late. Glaciers are, in deed, melting faster compared to that in the history.

We arrived at the Vancouver International Airport around 830pm. Hubby was busy on his camcorder capturing inside the airport, while I was waiting for our luggage to be unloaded from the plane. He was so exciting, I was all smile looking at him like a kid, who has finally got what he wanted so badly! I can feel his excitement!

It didn’t take too long for us to get our luggage, before we can jump into a taxi towards our hotel in Robson Street. Robson Street is known as the shopping street, I was very looking forward to that!

After we got into the taxi, it started to rain. We were worried, because for this trip, Vancouver was only a stop point, where we would spend only 2 nights before we board the cruise ship to Alaska. Thus, rain was really a big “ohh ohh” for us! We checked with the driver, and guess what he said? “It was the very first rain of the season”. Oh my! We really pray hard for it not to rain the next day, as our plan was to visit Stanley Park, a 1,000-acre natural sanctuary, by bicycles, thus, it is definitely not good if it rains!

About 35 minutes later, we arrived at our hotel – Barclay Hotel. We checked into our room, and it was a cozy room, like it! The furniture in the room, to me, was antique. Antique, but not old or worn out! We then went out for the very first dinner in Vancouver. After dinner, we walked on Robson Street for a while before we went back to the hotel to take a real good rest after a 22-hour flight from home.
