My Next Trip

OK! Set! We have made our final decision that Hokkaido will be our next destination!

We have been struggling for quite some times deciding where our next destination should be – Hokkaido or, New Zealand, again?

The reason being the word “again” is that we have made our first trip to NZ in year 2001. We spent 2 weeks there, but only managed to cover about 2/3 of South Island. Hubby and I love NZ so much - the weather, the sceneries, and especially the cherries! We promised each other that we would visit NZ again, one day, where we shall have both North and South islands covered.

Hokkaido, for years, we have heard from friends about the beauties of it, the seafood, and the weather, so much so that we would really like to make a trip there. I think the main reason that holding us back is the possible communication difficulties that we think we might face. Hubby and I, while traveling, always want to travel on our own, self-drive, in order to really explore our destinations. There was only once, during our trip to US in year 2006 where we joint a 1-week local tour. And that experience really made our decision of traveling on our own even firmer.

After our trip to Alaska in year 2008, our next trip, supposed to be this year, year 2009. But now, it could be due to the economic down turn that we need to postpone our trip to 2010, not sure yet, will see.

But, what I can do now is, since we have decided on the destination, I can start the plan by surfing around for information of the yearly events. From there we then could decide which season best suit our requirements. Sakura? Lavender? Maple leaf? Or snow? ;)

For everybody out there, whether you have been to Hokkaido personally, or you heard about it from friends, and should you have any advises or suggestions, you are most welcome to drop me lines!

By chance, I started learning Japanese language Nov 2007. It has been more than a year now, but I still found myself not really into it ;) After we have decided our trip to Hokkaido, hubby said that I have to really work hard and have my Japanese language polished. :-P
